September tells us the lazy days of summer have come to an end, and the first day of school marks the beginning of a new adventure - an adventure in learning and an adventure in teaching - because September is filled with special events.
September 11 is a date that changed the world! Patriot Day is a time to honor all the innocent persons who lost their lives as a result of the terrorist attack against the United States.
During Constitution Week , September 17-23, we remember, and recite words written over 200 years ago, "We, the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union..." that laid the foundation of our great nation.
And, on September 22 we retell The Story of Johnny Appleseed, nee John Chapman, who, we think, was responsible for the saying "An Apple for the Teacher."
The Autumnal Equinox (when the sun crosses the equator making a day and night of equal length) also occurs on September 22, and as we say goodbye to summer and hello to autumn we know that Halloween is not far away.
Our best wishes for a great teaching year! Please stay in touch! Your suggestions and input are important to us.
