Johnny Appleseed, Apples, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Apple Seeds, America

SEPTEMBER 26, 1776 - MARCH 11, 1845

Johnny Appleseed, born John Chapman in 1776, has become an American folk legend. He spent 50 years of his life distributing and planting apple seeds, from New York to the Northwest territory. As a result, virtually all rural and small town families in the 1700's and 1800's had an apple tree.

Johnny was a great American Pomologist and it is on March 11th that we also celebrate the anniversary of his death. Like teachers, he made friends wherever he went.

Because the harvest of apples coincides with the start of the school year, it was natural for the pioneer children to bring the teacher an apple as a "back to school" gift. Hence, the adage, "An Apple For The Teacher".

"For Teachers Only" has a unique selection of apple motif products you will want to order for yourself, or as gifts for your associates.
